Land Birds: Miscellaneous Larger Birds
Crows, Ravens, Jays, Scrub-Jays, Magpies
As a group (20 species), these birds are noisy, distinctive in appearance, and aggressive. They are omnivorous but feed mainly on seeds and nuts. Crows rank very highly with regard to intelligence - as measured in birds.
The morphology, behavior, and annual cycle of Clark's Nutcracker is closely tied to its diet of conifer seeds, but the bird is also adaptable and opportunistic, as reflected by its movement patterns and varied diet. It acts as both a seed disperser and seed predator.
