Gulls and Terns by the Shore
Heerman’s Gulls were behaving like Sanderlings. The gulls were foraging for mole crabs that live within the shore’s surf zone. The birds would follow a retreating wave, hastily search for a meal, and then gallop upslope to escape the next incoming wave.
